A State of Mind:
Through our preventative programs women learn the skills needed
to live their lives with courage, conviction and power. Whitehawk
Ranch is dedicated to combating the unhealthy information and influence
they receive from our popular culture in the areas of health, self-esteem
and moral decision-making. Whitehawk Ranch promotes a new way of
thinking – a thought process that strengthens the resolve
of each participant to avoid negative thought patterns and to cultivate
a healthy state of mind. Traditional Native-American horse interaction
is central to our program’s philosophy and effectiveness.
Numerous studies document the direct value of participation in
educational programs that focus on building self-esteem and better
decision-making skills. Research indicates the economic and social
value of "investing" in the mental and physical health
of women in a positive and constructive manner avoids the social
costs that may later result. Whitehawk Ranch is a preventative
program with the overriding goal of helping women develop effective
coping strategies. Our current programs, the Indian Cowgirl
Association (ICA) for girls ages 12-17, and the Wiyan Waste’ (Good Woman)
Program do just that by allowing women to experience better living
through our effective curriculum, American Indian traditions, and
the special relationship between women and horses. |
